2021 Emergency Preparedness Week - Image from The Government of Canada Website |
With the strain and stress of 2020 behind us, it is time to look forward and this is a perfect time to review and update your family emergency plan. In 2020, what worked?? What didn't?? What improvements does your family need to make?? This is a great week to add those updates to your plan!!
Remember, no one is going to be looking out for your family better than YOU! You are the boss and champion for the survival and success of your family. If you do not do so already, I would recommend that you add to your list of duties - researching current events and learn for yourself what makes sense for you, your family and your situation. As a popular meme floating around the internet states: If you cannot question it, it is NOT science it is propaganda. The only defence against propaganda and misinformation is to get informed and learn the facts, not the narrative.
If you or anyone you know is looking for a guide to help with emergency planning, The G.O.O.D. Plan - Get Out Of Dodge is available for Kindle devices from Amazon, right here: https://www.amazon.ca/Plan-Dodge-Official-Field-Manual-ebook/dp/B087CCH4H8/. The GOOD Plan is a guide to help you and your family develop, practice, and action your own emergency evacuation plan as part of your complete family emergency plan. Remember every family emergency plan consists of three sub-plans: The Shelter-in-Place Plan (SIP), The Evacuations Plan (GOOD), and the I'm Never Coming Home Plan (INCH). I wrote about this before (https://thegoodplanblog.blogspot.com/2018/02/sip-good-inch-three-parts-of-family.html).
Thank you for your continued support of my blog and be safe out there!!

Emergency Preparedness Week 2021
- May 2 - 8, 2021
Everyone has a role to play in an emergency. EP Week is an opportunity for you to take action to ensure you are prepared to protect yourself, your family and your community during an emergency. This year, the theme is Emergency Preparedness: Be Ready for Anything. The intent of this theme is to encourage Canadians to take action to become better prepared for the range of emergencies they could face in their region.
This national event is coordinated by Public Safety Canada, in close collaboration with the provinces and territories and partners.
Get Involved - Participate in our EP Week Challenge for a chance to win an emergency kit
This year, you have a chance to win an emergency preparedness kit by joining our online social media challenge. All you have to do is share a tip or picture showing how you’re helping to make you and your family better prepared to cope during an emergency, and use the hashtag #ReadyforAnything.
It can be as simple as making an emergency kit with items found around your home, creating a family emergency plan, or becoming more informed about the hazards in your area.
